Basic Start Up Cost

Hello all,

Just curious as to how much it would cost to make a shield (pretty much max dimentions) and 2 blue axes.

Looking to go axe and board obviously. Thinking of using plywood for my shield.

If anyone can ballpark the cost that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Uual

Re: Basic Start Up Cost

so this is what I found out.

Plywood 4'x4' = $6-7 at Menards

10', 3/4" thick wall PVC pipe = $1.20 at Menards

Blue Foamx3 = $18 at Walmart

DAPx2 = $4 at Walmart

Only price I'm missing is the closed cell foam, that is if you can't find it.

So for a grand total of $30.20 should be enough to get almost everything for 1 shield and atleast 3 weapons.

My guess would be add another $10 and you can get everything you need for above.

The blue foam is the closed cell foam we use, and just know that a plywood shield you're going to need heavy duty straps to make sure it stays and you're going to want to put foam on the shield where your arm will be or else you'll wear it bloody. I recommend that once you've cut out the shield to the size you plan on having it trace out where you feel your arm would go best then put on the straps, cause otherwise you might end up with a horribly uncomfortable shield thats a pain to fix. If you look at the tower shield in the arsenal the arm is set at about a 20 degree angle, not strait across and this makes it many times more comfortable than going a strait 90 degrees.

well the DAP wasn't in cans, it was in a tube/caulk form. Don't know if that is the same stuff or not.

and I noticed that the wood shields have padding where your arm rests. Also will have to take into consideration what would be a more comfortable position for my arm.

Also I always am confused on which foam is open cell and closed. Probably will get it wrong for awhile lol.
