Preamble

The Fury of the Called aims to provide a safe environment and training for recreational foam-weapon combat simulations. These simulations provide intense physical exercise and tactical challenges. We are a sovereign division of Eryndor, a division of the national foam-fighting organization Dagorhir.

Article 1

Name

The organization should be known as "The Fury of the Called," but will be referred to in this document simply as “The Fury.”

Article II

Membership

Section A. Membership

An Active Member has the right to attend regular meetings and practices, participate in unit-organized trips and events, vote in unit elections, and have first choice on unit sponsored mass transport, shelter, and other goods and services. This does not include free attendance to any campout or co-run event, but does include free attendance to a strictly Fury-run day event. Active members are allowed to borrow items from the community arsenal on a weekly basis. Active members are also entitled to run for office.

An Inactive Member has the right re-attain Active Member status by attending 2 practices or meetings a month. They do not count towards quorum for voting purposes. All other Active Member benefits are suspended.

           An Non-Combatant Member has the right to attend regular meetings and practices, participate in select unit-organized trips and events, and vote in unit elections. Unlike Active Members, they do not count towards quorum for voting purposes, and are not allowed to hold office within the unit.

           An Associate Member has the right to attend regular meetings and practices.

Section B. Member Qualifications

1. Membership in The Fury shall not be denied because of age, color, disability, gender, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status or weight.
2. At the time of initiation, each student member must have at least a 2.0 Grade-Point Average. Non-student members are also welcome.

Section C. Selection of Members
1. New members are accepted continuously, upon completion of the below-listed requirements.
2. A vote is not necessary for any level of membership.
3. Members will be formally accepted at the next official meeting.
4. All Participants in any combat-simulating events must have signed and submitted a liability waiver before participating. The additional requirements for membership are as follows:

Active Members must
Have a suitable character name and back-story submitted to the Secretary
Have sufficient costume clothing to meet minimum requirements at an
official Dagorhir event
Have attended at least three practices, meetings or events as a member of The Fury
Own at least one blue, red or green weapon that is not a dagger
Have donated to the community arsenal at least one blue, red, green weapon that is not a dagger, 2 daggers, a shield, or 5 rocks
Have received the safety and game-play tutorial from a club officer
Pay annual dues after their first year. Dues are set by a unanimous officer vote. Dues need not be monetary
To remain active, members must attend one official Eryndor practice, meeting, or event each month. Else, the member becomes inactive.

Non-Combatant Members
Donated either 30 hours or $150 in services to the unit initially, and renew their membership with 10 additional hours of service to the unit for each year after the first.
If a Non-Combatant attends three practices or events a calendar year and fights, they lose Non- Combatant status and become an Associate Member.
You cannot obtain Non-Combatant status during the campaigning period

Associate Members must
Have received the safety and game-play tutorial from a club officer

Section D. Voting Privileges

Active and Non-Combatant members have the right to vote on any issue raised at an official meeting. Absentee ballots will be accepted. All votes will be announced at least two weeks in advance. This period in-between the announcement of elections and their execution is referred to as the campaigning period.

Section E. Voting Privileges

1. Any member at any time can surrender their membership status. They cannot, however, withdraw the weapon donated to attain membership.
2. An individual's membership at any of the four levels may be revoked at any time on any of the following grounds:
• Undue abuse to or theft of community property
• Physical violence toward club members or guests not subject to the inherent risk of the game
• Disrespectful behavior toward other members, especially on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status or weight.
• Repeated violation of any of Dagorhir's safety and game-play rules
    3. Termination of membership requires a unanimous decision by the officers. The terminated member will be notified by two or more of the officers as soon as possible.
    4. Termination of an officer requires a vote by ¾ of quorum.

Article III

Officers

Section A. Elected Officers

President. Duties include:
• Administration of meetings and elections
• Co-ordination with RSO and University leadership
• Act as the unit's representative for matters relating to CMU
• Awards merit awards for performance above and beyond the call of membership
• Filling in for Master-At-Arms in their absence

Master-At-Arms. Duties include:
• Administration of practices and events
• Co-ordination with Eryndor and Dagorhir leadership
• Act as the unit's representative for matters relating to Eryndor
• Awards merit awards for performance above and beyond the call of membership
• Filling in for President in their absence

Secretary. Duties include:
• Management of club roster
• Management of club communications (mailing list, phone calls when necessary)
• Keeping minutes of any voting action at meetings
• In charge of giving back-stories to the Loremaster
• Keeping muster of the unit, recording practice attendance of members.
• Check status of garb for achieving active status

           Quartermaster. Office may be held jointly, by no more than two people. Duties include:
• Keeping inventory of community property
• Managing loans of community property
• Checking weapons for safety at practice

Treasurer. Duties include:
• Handling Budget Planning and Banking, as outlined in Article VI
• Collecting dues and notifying the Secretary
• Tracking Active Member’s progress towards earning Knots
• Creation, keeping, and distribution of awarded Knots.

        Loremaster. Duties include:
• Management and creation of the unit website
• Handling online representation of the unit
• Updating the roster in a semi-timely basis
• Assisting the creation of backstory for members in the unit to keep them in line with the greater storyline of Eryndor and The Fury

Section B. Standing Committees
The Fury has 1 standing Committee, comprised of the officership. This committee exists to handle any questions about the wording or meaning of this constitution. Should any member of the organization feel that the constitution is being misinterpreted, they may call a meeting of this committee, which will hold an open meeting after the official practice two weeks closest to when the meeting is called for. It is the job of this committee to determine what the intention of the constitution here is for the good of the organization. A majority vote of the committee, with each officer holding a vote, determines the outcome."

Section C. Qualifications for Holding Office
1. All active members that are on academic, social or disciplinary probation are prohibited from holding any office--elected or appointed.
2. Loss of active member status entails the loss of office.
3. All officers must have a full understanding of Dagorhir's rules and regulations regarding game play, safety and weapon standards.

Section D. Selection of Officers
1. Elections will take place near the end of every Fall semester, held by the President and one other active member of the Fury, chosen at random.
2. Voting will occur by ballot. Absentee ballots will be accepted, has determined by the officer running the election.
3. Any ties will be recount by two different members of the Fury, one officer and one active member. If the vote is still considered a tie, a majority of the current officers vote decides the tie.
4. In order for a vote to take place, quorum is necessary.
5. Elected officers assume office at the end of every Fall semester.
6. Length of term for an officer is one year.

Section E. Filling Vacancies
1. The Master-At-Arms assumes the responsibilities of the President in his/her temporary absence, and vice versa.
2. All other vacancies are filled by election only.

Section F. Recall of Officers
1. An officer may be discharged due to any of the following circumstances:
• Excessive violence
• Theft of destruction of community property
• Loss of membership status
• Repeated violation of Dagohir's safety and game-play rules
• Violation of state or federal law
• Excessive absenteeism
• Failure to perform basic duties
2. The removal of an officer can only occur if a consensus of 3/4 of quorum is reached.

Article IV

Advisors

Section A. Selection of Advisors
1. An advisor can be nominated by any active member.
2. The quorum must reach a 3/4 consensus to vote the nominated advisor in.
3. A 3/4 vote of the quorum can also remove an advisor from his/her position.

Article V

Section A. Frequency of Regular Meetings
1. Practices will take place approximately once per week.
2. Official meetings will take place periodically, at the discretion of the officers, with at least one week's notice (for active members) by email.

Section B. Special Meetings
1. A special meeting will occur for changes in officer positions or active member status.
Special meetings will also take place in the event of a proposed amendment to the constitution.
2. Special meetings will be called by the President or at the discretion of the other officers.
3. Members will be notified of special meetings by the Secretary or other
officer via email at least one week in advance.

Section C. Quorum
1. Quorum must consist of 50% of active members.

Article VI


Section A. Dues & Fees
1. Dues are set by unanimous officer consensus
2. Dues will be taken in the form of one blue, red, non-dagger green weapon, a shield, two daggers, or 5 rocks at induction into active membership.
3. Dues may be taken in fees for every year past the first year of membership. Fees do not need to be monetary.

Section B. Budget Planning
1. Budget planning, presentation and approval will be conducted as needed at official meetings.
2. Budget will be compiled by a committee of officers to be determined as the occasion requires.
3. Budget will be presented for approval at an official meeting
4. Consent of the club by a majority vote is required for budget approval
5. Money can be allocated by agreement of the officers and majority vote of the club.

Section C. Banking
1. The President and Treasurer must co-sign on checks written for club business.
2. The Treasurer will review bank statements monthly to ensure honesty and discretion in spending.
3. A non-member will review all transactions annually
4. The Treasurer will give receipts to members for all monetary contributions and provide members with an accounting of expenditures on a monthly basis.

Section D. In the case of inactivation, remaining funds will be donated to SAPA.

Article VII

Amendments

Section A. Amendments to the Constitution
Procedure: Any member, at any regular meeting, may propose an amendment to the constitution. The final vote on the amendment will be delayed two weeks, before which the Secretary will notify all active members that an amendment is on the table. An affirmative vote of three-quarters of quorum will be required for adoption of the amendment.
