Re: Garb and stuff
The objective should not be to conceal the clothing completely but enough to make it look not "obviously modern" If I wear a tabard over a plain black tshirt, you can still see the tshrit, but can you tell enough that is an "obivously modern" shirt, instead on a tunic that is tucked into my wrap pants or scrubs with a belt around the tabard.

Re: Garb and stuff
A t-shirt is obviously modern. So it should be concealed completely.

Slippery Slope
Not every noob at their first event will look like me.
How much slack does suck a person get for making a reasonable attempt, as Fenris is trying to argue?
What defines reasonable attempt in the mind of the Fury?
It doesn't seem like a universal definition from person to person or group to group.

Re: Garb and stuff
Not a slippery slope. New people are new people and that will always be taken into account. Multi year vets know better.
I'm going to look up where the nearest Chess tournament is taking place and show up with checkers. When they won't let me play chess with my checker pieces I'm going to bring up all these arguments and see if they fly...

Re: Garb and stuff
One still needs to be careful though.
It wasn't specified that newer people would be taken into consideration, so a new person reading this thread could be mistaken.
At the same time, it wasn't 'directly' stated (just implied) that vets were being discussed, (except for smelly references passed Eldy's way.)
The debate seems to imply seperate garb rules for vets and noobs, which is not the case of course.
Are we in agreement that people/groups have different opinions in how garb rules are defined and enforced at least?
PS- Your chess reference is asinine. My pieces are made of legos
PPS-My posts are meant for clarification of the event org's intent, rather than to argue.

"Are we in agreement that people/groups have different opinions in how garb rules are defined and enforced at least? "
This goes without saying. It's part of the problem. People that follow the rules see them as straight forward and people that don't want to follow the rules refer to them as "loosely worded" and "subject to opinion."
"The debate seems to imply seperate garb rules for vets and noobs, which is not the case of course. "
The rules are the same, but new people should always be given leniency on them.
My chess reference stands. I assume though that your pieces would somehow be made of chain maille.

Re: Garb and stuff
1.4 - Forbidden Garments, Patterns/Logos, and Equipment: The intent of this rule is to limit the amount of obviously modern looking items at the event. It is sometimes possible to wear modern clothing in a way (by modification or concealment for example) that it is not considered forbidden. A herald or member of the event staff will make final decisions on this.
What is an acceptable way to do this so that I know for the event? Plaid told me that I just needed to throw a tabard over my suff.

To quote Plaid from the Eryndor boards: "If it is cold, wear your hoodies and under armor UNDER your passing garb."
You may want to re-read that thread.

Re: Garb and stuff
I'm just quoting what he told me, when I talked to him in person, thus why I wanted to get it clarified. Also, your answer wasn't helpful either.

The better garb I wear, the more fun Varg has. What more of a reason does one need?
