Fabric Mart is awesome and is selling a thick shetland wool for dirt cheap. If you've never ordered from Fabric Mart before, you can get an extra 20% off by using the 'NEW'.
And the herringbones are period-ish (probably not made the same way, but the pattern is period) for historical vikings, saxons, and other northern europeans.
This is a higher quality wool for less money than I paid for the wool in my cloak.
